Images from the Death of the Identity and the State Citizen
30th September – 9th October Das Beckwerk takes leave of identity and citizenship

With antecedents in the classical Roman ritual Funus Imaginarium, a deathbed will be set up in a special building on Dantes Plads outside the Glyptotek.
For seven days Claus Beck-Nielsen will lie in effigy on his deathbed watched over by doctors and nurses.
Visiting hours will be from 11.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. daily.

On Saturday 9th at 11.00 October a cortege will wend its way through the city to Assistens Kirkegård Cemetery where the burial will take place.

Concurrently with the deathbed, and for the subsequent 100 days of mourning, the Glyptotek will tell the story of Das Beckwerk’s work with identity over the last ten years.
Among the things one can experience is live-streaming from the events, a short film with the French artist Sophie Calle and the head of Das Beckwerk, as well as documents and images of life after the death of identity.

Salammbô: The Serpent Woman and the Glyptotek
28.10 2010 - 13.2 2011

Eva Koch (born 1953) has created a unique work in four parts for the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek.
“Salammbô” 3D-animates the museum’s sculpture and adds sound to an exploration of dream, gender and history – from mythical Danish queens by way of the monumental figures of the Rodin collection to the Serpent Woman Salammbô.

Eva Koch is one of today’s most distinctive sound and video artists.

Cleopatra’s World
29.4.2011 - 7.8.2011

Cleopatra was at the centre of events when love, international politics and power struggles changed the order of the world. A new exhibition at the Glyptotek focuses on Egypt in the time of Cleopatra, when Egyptians, Greeks and Romans all left their mark on life and death.
