Van Gogh – Brushstrokes
from a Genius
28th May sees the premiere of the film, Van Gogh – Brushstrokes
from a Genius (audio in Danish). A ticket to the film
also gives free admission to the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek where you
can experience original van Gogh paintings.
Van Gogh – Brushstrokes from a Genius charts the course of the
artist’s life through his letters and the landscapes which inspired
him.
After the film, the ticket can be exchanged for a tour of the
Glyptotek, where real van Gogh pictures can be studied close to.
The Glyptotek owns four paintings by the artist. They show the
artist’s development from his time in Paris to his last days at the
mental hospital of Saint-Remy in Southern France. Also on permanent
exhibition at the Glyptotek are works by other world-famous artists
such as Gauguin and Cézanne, who together with van Gogh, are among
those who have had the greatest influence on art following the
Impressionist period.
The film, Van Gogh – Brushstrokes from a Genius, can be seen from
28th May 2010 onwards at the Tycho Brahe Planetarium. The film will
be shown on the Planetarium’s 1000-square-metre domed screen. Read
